What is is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a dermal filler used to slow and hide the effects of aging. Restylane® will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving you with softer younger looking skin. Restylane® is made of a hyaluronic acid that is already found in the body. Since it is naturally found in the body, which means it also dissolves naturally with time. It was originally developed in Sweden and is non-animal-based. Non-animal-based means that there is no risk of allergic reaction, so no pre-testing is necessary. Restylane® is based on hyaluronic acid as opposed to fat or collagen, it has proven to last longer than other treatments.

Restylane® is typically used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines around your mouth (laugh lines), the area below the nose and above the upper lip (lipstick lines), the corners of the mouth, the area that extends downward from the corners of the mouth to the jaw line (marionette lines).Add volume and hydration to your cheeks for a more youthful appearance. Virtually any area of the facial skin can be improved with Restylane®.
Dr. Partington or Dr. Windle will discuss with you the site of injection along with how many injections fit best. Restylane® injection takes approximately 30 minutes and patients are sent home immediately following with results lasting 6 months or more. You should avoid taking aspirin and Vitamin E supplements to lessen the odds or bruising and bleeding. No anesthesia is required and injection is virtually painless because of the use of a very fine needle. With little discomfort Restylane® is a simple and quick procedure that you can fit into your hectic schedule.
After treatment, there is no down time and patients are free to leave the office immediately following. Patients are advised to stay away from any vigorous physical activity, but may proceed to normal activities immediately. Patients are also advised to avoid extreme sun exposure and avoid touching or massaging the area. Swelling, redness, pain or bruising may occur but usually resides after a couple of days. If side effects are bothersome, applying an ice pack to area may prove soothing.
