Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty)

About Neck Lift Surgery

There are a number of procedures that can help you address the age of your face. A neck lift can be the most dramatic of all. Many patients consider a neck lift to help address the “angry look” or to get rid of the dreaded “turkey neck” while others need a lift to help them look refreshed and younger.

The Surgery

Surgeries are performed in our state-of-the-art, accredited surgical facility in our Kirkland clinic. All surgeries in our clinic are considered 'outpatient surgeries'. We avoid general anesthesia, preferring to give ‘twilight sleep’ and leaving the patient with the ability to breathe on their own.  Whether your neck is affected by age, your genes, the pull of gravity or the harsh effects of the sun and wind, neck lift surgery (platysmaplasty) or other neck contouring and rejuvenation procedures may be options.  A neck lift removes excess sagging skin under your jawline and on your neck. The platysma muscle of your neck can be adjusted and tightened if it has begun to separate and sag.

Cost and Financing

Neck lift surgery is considered an elective surgery. Total Cost for a neck lift surgery is generally between $6000.00 and $8,000.00. This includes pre and post-op appointments, the surgical fee, facility fee, anesthesia fee and required post-surgical recovery garments.  We understand that financing is a concern for many people and an important part of the decision making process.  We offer several options for financing and will work with you on a financial plan that best suits your needs.

Recovery

The Post-operative pain varies with each patient but is well controlled with oral pain medications. Recovery is usually 2 weeks. Some patients are able to return to work after 2 weeks have passed, while others prefer to take more time off. There are scars associated with a neck lift and are usually placed in the hairline and along the ears.  For most patients, scars start out red and eventually fade into inconspicuous lines hidden in the hair and fade well along the ears.  The vast majority of patients feel that the eventual faded scars are a worthwhile trade-off for the improvement in their neck and self-image.
